ACGME-I honors individuals who have been instrumental in pursuing and implementing improvements in graduate medical education (GME) through accreditation in their respective institutions.
ACGME International awardees are honored each year at the ACGME Annual Educational Conference, and ACGME-I provides the awardees with a generous travel stipend to allow them to attend the conference and receive their award in person at an Awards Dinner for recipients of both the ACGME’s and ACGME-I’s annual awards.
Awardees are selected each year by the members of the ACGME-I Board of Directors from nominations received during the nomination cycle, which typically takes place between April and June. During this period, individuals are encouraged to nominate their worthy colleagues who have demonstrated their dedication to GME and efforts in pursuing and maintaining ACGME-I accreditation, for one of the three awards:
This award is presented to an individual who has been instrumental in initiating improvements in GME that mirror the values held by ACGME-I—the highest of international standards with the flexibility and adaptations appropriate for a country or region.
This award honors an individual with exceptional mentoring skills, sensitivity to resident/fellow needs, and the ability to imbue professionalism in learners. Honorees are true advocates for developing appropriate values and advocating for resident/fellow needs.
This award is presented to a staff member who has provided extraordinary service to the education process, to the institution’s or program’s residents and fellows, and to meeting the ACGME-I Requirements. ACGME-I recognizes the importance of a true team effort in offering this award.
If the nomination cycle for the coming year’s awards has closed, consider who to nominate for the following year and return to this page for updates!
