ACGME-I Begins Accrediting Pediatric Surgery Residency and Obesity Medicine Fellowship Programs
At its 19 May meeting, the ACGME-I Board of Directors approved Advanced Specialty Program Requirements for pediatric surgery (integrated) residency programs and for obesity medicine/bariatric medicine fellowship programs. The Requirements were developed in collaboration with ACGME-I-accredited Sponsoring Institutions in response to global health care needs. The creation of these Requirements marks the first time that ACGME-I has developed Program Requirements for educational programs in specialties/subspecialties not currently accredited by the ACGME in the United States.
