Review Committees Approve Accreditation of Programs, including Firsts in Two Sponsoring Institutions
During the January 2024 meeting of the Review Committees-International, a total of 12 graduate medical education (GME) programs received positive accreditation decisions – including the first programs at two accredited Sponsoring Institutions to achieve Initial Accreditation status.

Aspetar Attains ACGME International Accreditation
ACGME International (ACGME-I) is proud to announce that Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar has been granted ACGME-I Initial Accreditation as a Sponsoring Institution. The accreditation decision was finalized at the meeting of ACGME-I’s Review Committees-International in January 2024, and is effective 1 July 2023.

ACGME-I Strengthens Relationships with Asia-Pacific GME Communities
Through the first half of November, ACGME International (ACGME-I) leaders traveled through the Asia Pacific Region to attend numerous conferences to strengthen ties with the graduate medical education (GME) communities in the region.

ACGME-I Begins Accrediting Pediatric Surgery Residency and Obesity Medicine Fellowship Programs
At its 19 May meeting, the ACGME-I Board of Directors approved Advanced Specialty Program Requirements for pediatric surgery (integrated) residency programs and for obesity medicine/bariatric medicine fellowship programs. The Requirements were developed in collaboration with ACGME-I-accredited Sponsoring Institutions in response to global health care needs. The creation of these Requirements marks the first time that ACGME-I has developed Program Requirements for educational programs in specialties/subspecialties not currently accredited by the ACGME in the United States.
